FP Book Club #14

Hey Guys!

Another late post, sorry about that as I mentioned in my monthly mani post (here) it has been really busy the last wee while. Anyhoo...time for another FP book club, and this month's book is Good me, bad me by Ali Land.
It is really hard to try and describe this book without giving too much away, but I will give it a try. The book is about Milly/Annie who is put into a foster home and given a new name, after she hands her own mother into the police. The story follows Milly coping with fitting in at a new school, while trying to hide her real identity and getting ready for her mother's murder trial, where she is a witness. That's about as much as I can tell of the plot without ruining it, but you also get to find out more about her mum and her throughout the book, and there are quite a few twists.
I loved this book, I actually read it in about 3 days I think and then leant it to a colleague and my mum who also really enjoyed it. It is really easy to read and with all the twists you end up wanting to read more and more, it is a proper page turner. I really liked how it was written and how you got to get more and more pieces of the puzzle as the book went on.
In terms of characters, you do start off (well I did anyway) feeling sorry for Milly and her situation, but the more you find out about her the more your opinion changes of her. One thing I do question is how the family she is with have ended up a foster family, they are so difunctional and actually kinda horrible (especially the daughter) that it seems a strange house for her to be in, but maybe that is just me.

All in all I really enjoyed this book, from start to finish it had me gripped and made me want to read on, plus the ending was really good!
What have you been reading lately? Don't forget to join the book club over on Goodreads, next month's book is Postcards from the Edge by Carrie Fisher. Happy reading!!
