FP Book Club #12

Hey Guys!

Time for another book club post, again sorry it is a little late (but this whole moving house thing has really messed with my routine)! This month's book is The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson.
I was leant this book by Paige who really enjoyed it and thought I would too. I had heard a lot of good things about the book from a lot of different people so I was excited to get into it.

The book is basically Jon Ronson looking into people are defined as psychopaths and how the system works all over the word. He interviews psycho-therapists as well as people who have been labeled as psychopaths and even business men. Throughout the book Jon is questioning exactly the term and the tests that are used to see if they really work and if there really is a test that can tell if you are a psychopath.
I was fascinated by the whole book. I am not going to lie I do oddly enjoy stories about psychopaths and what lead them to do what they did, so finding out about all the tests that can prove if some one is a psychopath I find really interesting. I think about 100 times throughout the book I kept going, oh that is me - I do that does that make me a psychopath? It was really interesting to see how certain behaviours can be quantified to highlight some ones behaviour.
Obviously, the whole point that I can question it and understand my behaviour means I that I'm not psychopath, but it really did get you thinking. I was really interesting that a lot of the behaviours can apply not just to scare killers etc but high powered business men and that is a idea that is really explored throughout the book.
I really enjoyed this book, it was really easy to ready and even quite funny! I would recommend it to anyone (not just us weirdos who like psychopaths)! Side note....I really can't spell psychopath, I have spelt it wrong every time I have typed it in this post (maybe that just makes me a bit of an idiot)!!
The next book club post will be a little different, it will be two books which were my holiday reads. They are The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling and Autumn by Ali Smith. Don't forget to join the book club on Goodreads
