FP Book Club #11

Hey Guys!

Time for another book club, I know it is only a couple of weeks since the last one, but I ready 1984 quite quickly. I have been really trying to read a variety of different types of books both fiction and non-fiction, and this book club book is a non-fiction book, it is Feminist Fight Club: An Office Survival Manual for a Sexist Workplace by Jessica Bennett.
The book is a sort of guide to women in the workplace which pulls on Jessica’s real life experience as well as the stories of her friends. It ultimately is a book about women supporting women and how to create your own feminist fight club, which I think is great!
I really enjoyed this book, I actually read it in a whole 2 days! I really like how Jessica had written it, it was as if she was just having a chat with you over coffee. The stories were frustratingly relatable showing just how sexist many workplaces can be. There was a lot a quite funny bits to it as well, from the drawings to even the tips, there is a lot of humour in it.

I feel like the whole message of the book was simple, all women should support each other, whether that is in the workplace or in day-to-day life, women need that support from other women. I am not saying that men can’t support women, in fact I encourage it, as does the book especially in the workplace. The more people supporting women within the workplace the more equal it will become, and that is what we all want!
As I said I really enjoyed the book and would love to read more from Jessica Bennett. I am also keen to read more Feminist books, it is something that interests me and something I support passionately, so if you have any suggestions please do let me know.
Have you read Feminist Fight Club? What did you think? Don’t forget to get involved with my book club on Goodreads, and if you want to join the book club do, the next book is The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson.
