FP Book Club #8

Hey Guys!

Hope you are well, it’s been about 6 weeks since my last book club post, so I figured it was time for another one.
This months book was The Princess Diarist by the late great Carrie Fisher. I have been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid, it was really my dad who really introduced me to it, he liked the movie so I liked the movies. Princess Leia was always my favourite I was always amazed by just how strong she was and when I was little I always wanted to be her.

As I got older I still like the movies but more than that I loved Carrie Fisher. She was so honest and interesting and wasn’t afraid to say what she thought about anything. She was unapologetically herself and I think that’s something we should all strive to be. When I saw that she had written a memoir all about being Princess Leia I had to read it.
The book is all about how she first got the part in Star Wars and what she felt about filming that first movie. It also goes into a lot of detail about her relationship with Harrison Ford ad how that shaped her.

I loved this book, I love how Carrie Fisher has written it. It is funny and light hearted but you can see just how much she loved being Princess Leia and Star Wars. It seems very reflective, because she openly discusses the difficulties she had with being in this big franchise and that she struggled to cope with the game aspect of it.
It was just a lovely insight into someone’s true feelings and thoughts. I love that she included pages from her diaries that she kept when she was filming Star Wars, it shows just how she was feeling at that time. It is so interesting.

I think any Star Wars fan or any Carrie Fisher fan should read this book. At times it felt like she was reading it to me, just the way it is written, it’s just like she spoke.

Have you read this book? What did you think?
Don’t forget to join my Goodreads book club. Next months book is The Crow Girl!
