FP Book Club #7

Hey Guys!

Time for the first book club post of the year. I have decided to shorten the name of the book club to just FP book club, it runs better.
This months book is The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel. The book tells the story of Lane Roanoke and a summer she spent living with her grandparents after her mother kills herself, it also flips between past and present, with present being when Lane returns to her grandparents after her cousin, Allegra, goes missing. The book goes back to tell the story of that summer she spent when she was a teenager and her life now as she tries to find her cousin and understand what has happened.

I really enjoyed this book, the story is gripping and full of twists which keep you really hooked. I love the past to present aspect of it, it was as if there were two story lines that all interlinked and just when you thought you understood what was going on in the present something would happen in the past to throw you off.
The whole book is written from Lane's point of view, however there are a hand full of chapters which are written in third person about other members of her family, and although at first it is a little confusing everything links in.

I loved this book, it was really easy to read and I had to force myself to put it down, otherwise I’d have read it in one sitting. Even though it was quite dark in parts I still couldn’t put it down, I just wanted to find out what happened next.
I highly recommend this book, if you like thrillers and mysteries this one is for you!
Want to join in the book club? Next months book is The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher, read it as well if you want and let me know your thoughts oh and join my book club group on Goodreads so we can chat about the books.
