Fashion Polaroids Book Club #4

Hey Guys!

Hope you are all well. It has been a while but figured it was time for another Fashion Polaroids book club. I do apologise for the lateness of this, it took me longer than I’d care to admit to finish this book.
This month’s book is I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes, and I loved it. I was recommended this book by Zoe (who actually leant me it) after she had read it while she was away in Thailand, she then leant it to Paige and then to me – this is a really well travelled book, pretty sure it was bought in Thailand.

The book is about an ex-CIA/secret agent who is dragged back into the secret world when a suspected terror plot surfaces which requires his expert skills to help find the man planning the attack. The story follows his investigation while also flashing back to stories of his past and stories from the man he’s hunting past. It was really gripping and the fact that the chapters were quite short made it really easy to just keep reading and reading.
It is a long book, it has 4 parts and they are all pretty big, which is one of the reasons why it took me so long to read. Another big factor was that it is so realistic that with everything that was going on in the world it felt a bit too real at times so felt I had to put it down for a bit.

The fact that it was so realistic was one of the reasons I did really like, it was easy to believe that this was something that could be happening today. At times I forgot it was fiction it was just so realistic.
I’m not gonna lie, this is not a cheery, happily ever after book, so if that is what you like I wouldn’t suggest you read this. It is however, a dark, exciting thriller with twists and suspense and all that jazz. If you like thrillers I highly recommend this book, it is one of the best thrillers I have read in a long time.

What have you been reading this summer? Let me know!
