Last night I went to an amazing event with my fellow bloggers at Mademoiselle Macaron to celebrate their first birthday. It was just so much fun and lovely to meet so many new people as well as discover a new cafe.
I was surprised I had never heard of Mademoiselle Macaron before now, I mean I used to work round the corner from it and I love macarons, so when I saw the invite on twitter I knew I had to go an find out more.
Rachel, the owner, set up the cafe after she had learnt to make macarons in Paris. She brings a great Scottish twist to a French classic and all of the macarons we got to try were amazing!! Rachel is lovely, and I think her shop reflects her personality really well, there are maps of Edinburgh and Paris mixed together on the walls to show her love of both cities.
When we arrived we were offered prosecco and invited into the back (or kitchen) of the shop where there lots of macarons to try. There were, burger macarons, gin & tonic, raspberry, strawberry, caramel, orange and two other savoury options. I had never tried a savoury macaron and it was so tasty.
We spent the rest of the night just relaxing and chatting to Rachel and each other. It was so relaxed, that I forgot we were at an event, it felt like you were at a friends house. We also got goodie bags which had a box of macarons (mine didn't last long) as well as a little card to say thank you for going along.
It was just such a lovely evening and everyone was so nice. I will definitely be going back to see Rachel soon.
