Day Trips in Edinburgh #1: Camera Obscura

Hey Guys!

Hope you are all well! Today's post is a little different from some usual posts (and there may be more of these too). Recently, me and my family have been doing trips round Edinburgh together. There is so much to do in the city, and we always forget that, and so sometimes we quite like to be tourists in our own city! This weekend we visited Camera Obscura, and it was so much fun, so I thought I'd share!
It is officially called Camera Obscura: World of Illusions, which does kind of describe it quite well, it is right next to Edinburgh Castle on the Royal Mile. It has a big 'camera' (they tried to explain exactly what it was, but I got a bit confused something to do with mirrors and lens) right at the top which allows you to have a mini tour of Edinburgh in the building. So when we got their our 'tour' was about to start so we headed to the top floor of the building which is where the room where the tour takes place is, there are also amazing views of the city. Luckily, we went on a sunny day so Edinburgh looked amazing!!
After our tour, we worked our way down the floors so we could explore all the other interactive things such as; a thermal camera; mirrors that change how you look; a room which changes perspective; a room which has loads of lights in it and mirror to make it look like the lights go on forever (that's my fave bit cause it looks like you are among the stars); a mirror maze and a 'vortex' (a wee room which has walls which move and a bridge that stays still and you have to walk through it makes you feel really dizzy). There is so much to do, that rather than try and explain it, it is probably easier to show photos, so I took loads!

My mum and brother in the perspective room (my mum is the shortest in the family, so for once she looked really tall)

It was such a fun day, a little expensive, but most tourist things in Edinburgh aren't cheap, and there is so much to do I would say you get more than your money's worth! I would say that if you don't like walking up and down stairs then this maybe isn't the best place for you are there are 6 floors and no lifts, but I think its one of the best attractions in Edinburgh, purely because it is so different from any of the other places there are! I think it is a great day out, me and my family had a lot of fun!

Have any of you been here? Does it sound like the kind of place you'd want to go? Let me know!
