As I mentioned I recently went to Thailand with my friend Laura and it was just amazing! As we did so much I thought I'd share it in two sort of photo diary posts about the trip. I think 2 post will be easier, because there are so many photos that they wont fit on one post nicely. So here is the first part of my Thailand trip!
We started out in Bangkok, where we met the rest of the group we were travelling with and spent a day in before heading to Chiang Mai. While we were in Bangkok we spent the day on a trip around a market and the canals which are all around the city. It was actually a really great day.
We then headed to the train station in Bangkok and got on the 14 hour night train to Chiang Mai, the train actually ended up taking 18 hours because of a train problem (not that I noticed, I was asleep). We were in Chiang Mai and the surrounding area for 4 nights, during that time we did a trek, bathed elephants, rafted down a river and swam in a waterfall! It was a lot of fun and although I moaned about the walking on the trek it was an amazing experience, plus I (and a couple others) actually managed to get out of two days of walking and took dirt bikes through the forest instead which was incredible! While we were on our trek we stayed with local tribes and they were very welcoming and friendly playing guitar one night for us, and showing us their local dance the second night. The accommodation for those two nights was very basic, but it wasn't really that important because we were doing so much that the accommodation was the last thing on our minds, If I'm honest, it was a lot better than I had expected, but I know it was a once in a life time experience that I will never get to do again, and so roughing it for a few days really wasn't that big of a deal (although my shower as soon as I got to the hotel after the trek was probably the best shower I've ever had, I've never felt cleaner, haha).
After 5 incredible days, we headed back on the train to Bangkok, where some of our group left us and other joined us for the next part of the journey. By this point we had all got to know each other pretty well and as a group we were getting on really well, so we were pretty upset when some people left us. We had a night and a day in Bangkok before we headed to the south and so in order to get to know the new people and for a bit of fun, we headed for a night out on Koh San Road, which is just like a market street, that at night has lots of bars on it, it was pretty fun!
The first week of Thailand was incredible, I fell completely in love with the North of the country, the people were so friendly and it was very pretty!
That's part one of my travels, I know I haven't gone into a great amount of detail but I felt like the photos kind of speak for themselves.
Have you guys been to Asia? What did you think? Let me know!
